This is mere expectation. Wait till Trump takes office so that we see what will happen when his rhetoric hits reality. The American economy cannot sustain a stable prices situation without trading with China. China does not want a trade war with the USA but it’s ready for a fight if it’s forced into one. Trump does not believe in the multilateralism on which much of world trade depends. Chinese strategists are being given an incentive to die a little for their country. Trump is making them think what they would otherwise not think about. China holds the aces; big population, it’s graduating more engineers and scientists than the USA at postgraduate level.

The world has become more dollarised and the Zambians are abandoning the less useful comatose Kwacha lyingin ICU. The America First mantra is overtaken and inspired by the maga movement. Such a political rethoric is not as doomed as Brexit is, which only succeeded in isolating Britain farther. Does anyone care much about the £ Pound Sterling? My only hope is that the dollar surge isn’t a bubble that may pop sooner than later.
