“Cold Box” is simply a pressurised container that hold a gas at a very low temperatures. Gas in this case is Oxygen used in a smelter. It is constructed of double walls, to allow insulation to be squeezed between the inner and outer walls. It is designed using the science of heat and thermodynamics. I think every mining smelter has some kind of a “cold box”.
